IP Sensor to Alarm

AVIOSYS has a board that will allow you to check 4 input sensors over the network.

IP Sensor to Alarm

Postby Puggs » Tue Dec 13, 2005 10:19 pm

Hi

AVIOSYS makes a IP sensor range of modules, i have the WEB-9201 IP Sensor, it has 4 inputs only, althogh the main board i have has the conectors for the POWER output board as well.

I put this in the programing section as all I really need to do to hook it up to my alarm system is just a few wires.

I am looking at writing a small java app that will popup a window when a sensor changes state.

I may also write a web app to do a better job at displaying the sensor readings, the built in one is crap.

The manual is also crap, written in chinglish (chinese translated to english). there are jumpers and connectors on the board that are not mentioned anywhere in the manual.

It also come with a metre long 15 D-Sub cable and i only need 20-30mm, so i'm going to have to work out the pins (i hope stright though) to make a short cable.

Hi All

well the idea was great... Hook it up to my alarm, see what is happaning from remote...

Do you think it worked? NO!!!

OK hooking it up turn out to be easy, but the board isn't working as it should.

As you can see from the above picture there is a control board and a sensor board.. what is happaning on my setup is that the control board is not seeing what the sensor board is, i can use the test buttons ok, but any live sensors don't work, even a dead short doesn't work.

To make matters worse i blew one of the opto-couplers while trying to get it to work. A new one should be arriving soon, i brought it from a website in the USA, only to find out they shipped from just down the road.

Well thats it for now, all attempts at getting help from their website has resulted in silence, i don't know what to try next, i'll wait till i get a replacement part before trying anything else.
